The Craftsman house plan displays the reliability and simplicity of a truly American house. Its most common characteristics are its low-pitched, gabled roof (often hipped) with a deep overhang and exposed roof rafters and triangle supports. Its porches are either full or partial in width, displaying tapered columns or pedestals that extend to the ground level. A combination of natural materials is used, such as handcrafted stone and woodwork, and an earthy color palette with browns and greens.
